Barrie and the Lambert Family
Barrie’s father was related to the Lambert family and little families
have had such a profound influence on the arts than the Lamberts.
Kit Lambert (1935-1981) founder and manager of and a very well- known British pop group The
Who also founder of Britain’s first independent record label.
Kit Lambert’s father was Constant Lambert (1905-1951) musical
director of Saddler’s Wells ballet in the mid 1930’s he galvanised English
ballet by introducing a cosmopolitan influence. He was also champion of jazz in
a time when jazz was fairly new as a musical genre in Britain.
Constant’s father was George
Lambert 1873-1930 was a well-known war artist and then established himself
as Australia’s leading artist. A
majority of his work are on display in Australia.
